About the Role
The Farm Assistant supports daily oyster farming operations at Kennebunkport Oyster
Company. This hands-on role is ideal for someone who enjoys physical outdoor work and
wants to learn about sustainable aquaculture while helping maintain a productive,
environmentally conscious farm. The Farm Assistant will work directly for the Farm Manager.
Key Responsibilities
• Assist with oyster husbandry including seeding, sorting, cleaning, and harvesting.
• Help maintain farm equipment, floats, and gear in good condition.
• Assist with oyster shucking and preparation at occasional events (hourly rate + tips when working an event/tour).
• Follow all safety, environmental, and operational standards.
Qualifications
• Reliable, hardworking, and comfortable working on or around the water.
• Prior experience in aquaculture, fishing, or farming preferred, but not required.
• Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work outdoors in varied weather.
• Positive attitude, willingness to learn, and team-oriented mindset.
• Comfortable shucking oysters (not required but a plus).
