Purpose:
Bangs Island Mussels is looking for an adaptable, self-starter individual with mechanical proficiency to help oversee, participate in, and co-lead the land-based mussel processing room.
Reports To:
The co-processing manager reports to the Farm Manager.
Job Overview:
Bangs Island Mussels is looking for an experienced leader who works well under pressure to co-manage a crew of 5-7 employees as they process mussels. This is a land-based position based on Portland’s working waterfront! No previous aquaculture experience is required. The manager should have proven leadership skills, great organization, dependability, have excellent communication skills, the ability to work with small tools, mechanical proficiency, health and safety compliance experience and be enthusiastic by environmentally sustainable aquaculture.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Co-Manage a crew of 5-7 people.
- Lead the team through complex challenges

- Adherence to all safety protocols
- Quality Control & Safety
- Meticulously inspect raw mussels for quality and consistency
- Perform and interpret quality checks like temperature logging, count accuracy, weight accuracy.
- Strict adherence to all quality standards, and seafood safety regulations
- Proficiency in data entry, analysis, and reporting deviations
- Data Collection and Analysis
- Meticulous completion of all required forms, logs and digital records
- Computer literacy

- Works with upper management to develop policies and procedures related to processing and processing operations.
- Miscellaneous land-based maintenance projects in collaboration with the Farm Manager
Job Requirements:
- Proficiency in MS Office applications; Word, Outlook, Excel,

Schedule:
- Monday - Friday, 40 hours.
- Hours vary between 7:00am and 3:00pm on non-harvest days, and 12:00pm and 11:00pm on harvest days.
