Job Title: Seasonal Oyster Farming Assistant

Location: Phippsburg, Harpswell & West Bath, Maine

Duration: June 1st - September 1st (options to start earlier/stay longer are available)
Hours: Monday - Friday, 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM
Pay: $20/hour

Position Overview:

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual with a keen interest in Maine aquaculture and oyster farming. This is a seasonal position that provides hands-on experience with all aspects of oyster farming across four different farms. As a seasonal Oyster Farming Assistant, you will work closely with experienced farmers and gain valuable knowledge in the world of aquaculture while contributing to the operations of multiple oyster farms.

Key Responsibilities:

* Assist with hauling oyster cages.
* Help sort/cull oysters
* Help with washing oysters and bagging. 
* Perform general farm tasks related to oyster cultivation
* Work across different farms, rotating between locations.
* Support farmers with daily operations, including monitoring oyster growth and ensuring the farm's upkeep.
* Operate safely and efficiently on boats and floating docks in various weather conditions.
* Maintain a positive attitude and team spirit while working with other farm staff.

Qualifications:

* Genuine interest in aquaculture and oyster farming.
* Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
* Comfortable on boats and floating docks
* Prior experience with motor boat safety and operating
* Physically fit and able to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks as needed.
* Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
* Prior farm or outdoor experience is a plus but not required.
* Flexibility with hours and tasks based on farm needs.
* Must have your own transportation, as the work locations during the week will rotate between Harpswell, West Bath, and Phippsburg

Additional Information:

* This is a seasonal position with flexible hours from June 1st to September 1st.
* Starting pay is $20/hour.
* Please be prepared to bring your own gear for boating - slickers, boots, gloves, etc (NOTE: some of this could be provided by the farms)
