Facilities Manager

The facilities manager is a key role in charge of the operation, maintenance, and upgrades of the buildings, tanks, and life support systems to keep us operating a world-class facility and maintaining a healthy environment for optimal production on our eel farm. The position works closely with the Production Manager to ensure production is on track and systems are maintained for both biological and operational needs. Waste treatment or recirculating aquaculture systems experience a must. This position requires that specific production, scientific, and quality control activities associated with the health and maintenance of eels being cultured at the facility be conducted as indicated.

Duties include:

  • Learn and understand all relevant engineered systems and protocols related to maintaining the facilities.
  • Further develop an operational and maintenance plan for the farm
  • Implement operational plan, technical upgrades, and repairs
  • Maintain facility equipment and components including processing area
  • Oversee secondary treatment system and all monitoring and reporting related to system
  • Manage a budget and ordering for facilities department
  • Maintain a safe work environment and complete OSHA training
  • As needed assist production team in all relevant activities such as harvest, grading, and system operation
  • Help to insure that all production agendas are accurately and precisely carried out in a timely manner
  • Work closely with the American Unagi staff, interns and management.
  • Oversee that critical staff are notified of issues related to facility equipment and components
  • Meet reasonable deadlines and schedules as specified.
  • Record and communicate all relevant activities on site as requested.
  • Help to organize and complete multiple tasks on a daily basis.
  • Role is facility based with an occasional need for travel for conference attendance, meetings, and supplier engagement.
  • Requirement to be on call to respond to emergencies and may require occasional work on weekends and night duty
