American Unagi is a Maine-based aquaculture company dedicated to growing sustainable, traceable, and premium grade eel. Our products currently include smoked eel, butterflied eel fillets, and live eel. We are the only American company farming high-quality eel and our commitment to sustainability, the fishermen we work with (baby eels are wild-caught), and the communities we operate in is second to none. American Unagi is in an exciting scale-up phase with construction of a state-of-the-art RAS facility in Waldoboro, Maine well underway. We are looking for a creative, hard-working, entrepreneurial person to join our team in a sales and marketing capacity.

American Unagi is in a rapid-paced expansion stage where production volumes and processing capabilities have greatly increased. As a result, we are building a team to help fuel our next stage of growth. Our team will need to develop and maintain meaningful relationships and go the extra mile to educate prospective clients on the quality and exceptional nature of our products.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Manage and close inbound restaurant, wholesale, and retail sales
  • Creatively prospect, contact, and close outbound restaurant, wholesale, and retail sales
  • Manage existing accounts and ensure that clients are continuing to order regularly
  • Organize and maintain a CRM with all customer and sales information
  • Managing social media outlets (currently facebook and Instagram)
  • Drafting e-newsletters, promotional materials, familiarity with mailchimp or similar
  • Participate in regularly scheduled marketing, branding, and sales strategy meetings
  • Be the eyes and ears on the ground that relays customer comments on product and company so as to help with product development and improved operation
  • Input orders, track logistics, and provide customer service and success to clients
  • Organizing monthly reporting of sales-related KPIs

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proven communication and relationship management skills
  • Experience working with CRMs, preferably Salesforce
  • Willingness to work in a fast-paced startup environment
  • Understanding of sustainable food systems/seafood/aquaculture is a plus
