Description

Full time. Year-round. No aquaculture experience necessary.

Are you looking to be a part of a fun, hardworking, sustainable company? Then look no further - Bangs Island Mussels is the place for you! We need a dependable individual to work in our land-based mussel inspection room.

We offer full health insurance coverage and dental insurance for full-time employees, PTO, and 6 paid holidays after 3 months!

No experience is necessary, we will train you.

Duties:

Mussel inspection, set-up and clean up, washing, bagging, weighing, and other miscellaneous land-based farm maintenance projects.

We harvest mussels from our farm 2-4 times per week. In the afternoons, the processing crew unloads the mussels from the boat and performs the final processing and inspection of the mussels before they are delivered to the customers. This is essentially a mussel assembly line. The work is fast-paced in a moist and somewhat loud environment (we wear ear protection and listen to great music!)

Requirements:

  • Dependable and on time
  • A good work ethic
  • A positive attitude
  • Ability to work as a team (a crew of 6 -7)
  • Ability to stand for the duration of the shift
  • Able to lift 50lbs, occasionally
  • Waterproof boots

There are occasional opportunities for extra land-based work.

Perks:

Free mussels on a regular basis, a unique and exciting work environment on a commercial wharf in the middle of the Old Port, and the possibility of some work on the water if you have the skills. Opportunity to grow within the company!

Schedule:

Full-time job (approximately 32 hours per week). 2 pm - 10 pm (the end time varies according to the harvest amount) Monday-Thursday.

Compensation:

$18.00 /hour.
